Mindset and Heartset

Dear Friends,

With the emergence of this new month, there is an opportunity ahead of us. The calendar shows four square weeks ahead – with the month beginning on a Monday and ending on a Monday. A rare year of 29 days in February.

A window of time like this is truly an invitation. And our SELF-CARE can be the platform.

Mindset and Heartset are two areas of our lives over which we have influence and dominion. Our personal alignment is rooted in the presence of our Mind and in the strength of our Heart. Yet, those two areas are only truly uplifted if we invest the effort and commitment to make them a priority. Without a focus on our mind and our heart, it is easy to be swayed, pushed and forced away from what matters most.

Self-care of these two areas may bring about peace, health, clarity and liberation. And when we make our self-care the paramount objective of each day, we elevate our capacity to get the most out of these two key elements.

The next 29 days are an opportunity to practice this.

For the Mindset…

  • Four times per week, for 5 minutes each day, sit with your eyes closed and focus on your breathing. This calms the mind and establishes a commitment to the moment.

  • Three times per week, read something that inspires you. A quote, a scripture, a short story, a letter. This fills your mind with positive thoughts.

  • Two times per week, for 5 minutes each time, sit outside and look at the sky. No expectations. No plan. Just look at the sky. The mind will find what it is looking for.

  • One time per week, learn something new. Ask a questions of someone; read something; find out more. This fortifies the mind.

For the Heartset…

  • Four times per week, give someone a hug and tell them how much they mean to you. This fills the heart – of both.

  • Three times per week, do exercise and movement which stimulates vigorous circulation, works the muscles and increases the lungs. This strengthens the heart.

  • Two times per week, write down at least three things for which you were grateful that day. This opens the heart.

  • One time per week, write a thank you card…to either yourself or someone else. And mail it. This connects the heart.

The next 29 days are an opportunity to practice any or all of these ideas. Perfection has no place here; rather, action is the pathway. Post the lists where you can see them and invite yourself to embrace a few of the disciplines.

…Because Life waits for no one. The clock continues to tick and the days continue to unfold. Our best move is to deeply care about our Mind and our Heart. These are only a few examples on how to do so. Yet, when we delve into practice, we slow the pace and the meaning of this journey becomes much deeper.

Wishing you a victorious start to this month…and a continuation of your success.

Sincerely,

Ranj
